Batch Data Entry Option

Satelite Plus can be configured to operate in realtime or in a "batch" data entry mode. In the batch mode information is not collected from Satelite Plus realtime terminals as events occur on the factory floor. Instead, batches of bundle coupons are input manually using a barcode wand. These barcoded coupons are printed by Satelite Plus for each job to be performed on a bundle. The responsible operator clips the coupon when the operation is done and attaches it to gummed sheets for entry by the payroll clerks. Satelite Plus-Batch in many ways is identical to Satelite Plus Realtime. However, the batch version of Satelite lacks features and benefits which are available only in realtime. For example, some of the most significant features which are limited or unavailable in the batch operation of Satelite Plus include:

	Realtime productivity measurement and operator performance feedback Line balancing Realtime work-in-process tracking and bundle location Actual costs by cut, style and order Limited skills history measurement Limited rate performance measurement Limited training curve processing Automatic time clock functions Limited SQC data gathering Limited Group Incentive and Module tracking options
	While the batch version of Satelite Plus does not have some of the benefits of the realtime version, Satelite Plus-Batch does provide significant advantages over other batch systems. These advantages include:
	Hourly time clocks for automatic time and attendance reporting Ability to add realtime terminals for direct labor by section or plant Can perform multiple data entry sessions per day Can insert/delete style sequences when cuts are in-process Production reporting by line/job and job group Work-in-process workload available at each job Bundle operation history includes multiple responsible operators Alternate jobs for automatic or manual machine piecerates Extensive substitute (alternate rate) operation levels Actual costs by cut, style and order (reduced functionality from realtime) Extensive support for training curves Duplicate bundle payments identified on-line as data is entered Cut production status reporting Cut completion graphing Production monitoring vs. needed On-line supervisor inquiries (reduced functionality from realtime) Section status inquiry (reduced functionality from realtime)
	Satelite Plus provides the advantage of being able to operate in realtime and batch modes simultaneously. This advantage allows the user to begin with batch and migrate to realtime incrementally.
